I am a runner, so I run. This morning I donned tights and jacket and shoes and earband and headed out along the Oak Leaf Trail in Franklin, WI. The temperature held steady at 38 degrees, and the sun was rising in a blue sky (although clouds crowded out the sun later in the day). I moved easily until this image caught my attention - I stopped, pulled out the Canon PowerShot S100 from my pocket, and captured this image.
What did I see? A color gradient from the cyan sky to the glowing golden grasses. Branches criss-crossing in every direction, and - in the middle - The Nest. A spot of stubborn icy snow still clung to the structure. And, satisfying my sense of symmetry, one yellow-tan leaf in the upper left and one yellow-tan leaf in the lower right.
This is the only photo I took this morning. But I can look at it and remember every step of that refreshing run.
